The Tortoise Method

By

All my life, I have been the Rabbit in the story. Fast, capable, confident. Nothing could hold me back. I would take off running and decide halfway through that I am so ahead of the game that I can rest. Watch a movie for a couple of hours. Racing to the finish line before the time ran out became my specialty. But as I grow older, I grow slower. There are things more important than deadlines. There are hospital visits and friends in need of a conversation. Rushing while disregarding the world is no longer a viable option.

This year, I am trying the tortoise method for a change. Slow, steady, and consistent.

No more grand heroic feats.

Just small consistent beats.

“Slowly is the fastest way to get to where you want to be”

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said, “Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allah is the most regular and constant even if it were little.

This is the path towards peace.
